Who does not know Sopot and its attractions? Certainly each and every knows this city, whoever comes here is perfectly familiar with what and where may be done in Sopot. Thus, we only suggest which routes to choose from our location in order to get to the desired destinations. We recommend both walks and bike trips, and for farther routes (for example to Gdańsk or Gdynia) just use a Szybka Kolejka Miejska [a city railway].
We start our hiking from Polna Street (we arrive to it by Lokietka Street – about 100m), taking a right turning downwards in the direction of the sea, in order to reach the beach (about 600m). Walking further in the direction of the sea, among the stylish Sopot lamps and the old trees, You will arrive at the seaside lane (that is one of many bicycle paths in Sopot). Going further straight, You will reach the clean, sandy Sopot beach. On the left You will notice the famous Przystań Rybacka [a fishing haven] offering the biggest choice of fish and other seafood delicacies. After a meal we suggest two solutions – walking along the Lane in the direction of the longest (511.5m) in Europe wooden pier and to Sopocki Monciak (Bohaterów Monte Cassino Street – the most famous Polish promenade) with numerous coffee bars, restaurants, pubs, shops, galleries, monuments, portrait-painters, musicians and a cinema, a theatre and the famous Crooked House [Krzywy Dom] or in the opposite direction to the Sopocki Klub Żeglarski [a yacht club] offers renting of water equipment, swimming lessons, windsurfing lessons and catamaran sailing lessons.
A second possibility is to go upwards Polna Street. You will quickly reach the main entrance to the Sopocki Hipodrom [a hippodrome], where You can have a horse ride or a walk, watching beautiful, thorough-bred horses. Opposite the hippodrome’s gate there is the Sopockie targowisko [a market place] that is open on Tuesdays and Fridays, and where You can buy both fresh fruit and vegetables, and also souvenirs and various trinkets. Going upstairs to a viaduct You will find the Sopot Wyścigi SKM Stop [the City Fast Railway’s stop], from which You can go both to Gdańsk and Gdynia. You can buy the tickets from a ticket-inspector who is in the first carriage.
To get to the biggest and the most modern sports hall in Poland called Ergo Arena You have to turn left into Lokietka Street and after 5 minutes walk You are there. Ergo Arena offers You high quality sports emotions and unforgettable cultural experiences.
For those who are eager for longer walks we recommend visiting the Opera Leśna [an amphitheatre] and Sopockie Grodziska, and for those who take delight in non-sea water - the attractions of the Sopocki Aquapark and recreation on the Miejskie Korty Tenisowe [tennis courts] or in the Sopocki Klub Tenisowy [a tennis club].
